California Wildfires in 2025
The California wildfires of 2025 have been devastating to watch. Many of you are wondering how to help from afar and our hearts go out to anyone impacted directly by these events.
As pet owners and animal lovers, many of you may be interested in supporting animals and pet owners in addition to emergency response groups.
Here are 3 ways we suggest offering support. Whether it's through donations, foster/adoption, or simply spreading awareness, we can all help pets and their owners at this time.
1. Donate to Animal Rescue Organizations
One of the most direct ways to lend a hand is by donating to local animal rescue organizations.
Here is a list of local and regional shelters impacted by the recent wildfires. Many of these groups are working around the clock to help take in lost pets stranded by the wildfires, and evacuate others to keep them safe.
The ASPCA has announced a $5 million dollar aid package to southern CA. You can donate to this trusted organization here.
To support horses and other farm animals impacted by the fires, consider the Los Angeles Equestrian Center here.
Organizations like the Pasadena Humane Society have specific campaigns aimed at wildfire relief. Check their websites for urgent needs and consider setting up a recurring donation.
To help protect wildlife, consider donating to the Wetlands and Wildlife Care Center.
2. Volunteer to Foster
If you're looking for a more hands-on approach, volunteering is a fantastic option.
People across the region and from Arizona to Oregon are helping with fostering and transporting animals, as well as setting up temporary shelters.
Check out your local shelter to see how you can contribute your time to support these efforts. To help local animals check out the LA County Animal Care and Control.
3. Support for evacuees
If you are a resident who needs emergency placement for your pet, here is a list of animal shelter information for owners to bring their animal if required to evacuate.
This agency Greater Good also supports transport of pets for victims of the CA wildfires.
Help those in need
The wildfires of 2025 have left a significant impact on both pets and their owners in California.
By donating to animal rescue organizations, volunteering your time, or opening your home to a short term foster, you can offer support to other pet owners during this challenging time. Let’s remember the importance of community and think of ways to help. Every effort, whether big or small, can contribute to the healing process for everyone affected.
