Dog-Friendly Auburn CA: A Halloween day trip full of treats!

Now that Fall is in full force, plan a day in dog-friendly Auburn CA to sit, stay, and play! Halloween is the perfect opportunity to take a day trip.

Auburn CA is a hidden gem in northern California, about 40 minutes from Sacramento.

Auburn features plenty of indoor and outdoor activities and has a charming historic district full of shops and restaurants.

Here is our one-day itinerary for you and your well-behaved, leashed pup to have a perfect day trip this Halloween!

Stop #1: The Pour Choice

The Pour Choice is a popular coffee shop for locals and visitors. The line out the door is evidence at the quality. There is a reason people fuel here.

The Pour Choice has a shady patio area and an extensive menu.

Pick your favorite coffee choice or pumpkin latte for the season. I recommend the Golden Turmeric Elixir for a unique treat that will start your day off right!

Stop #2: The Front Porch

Next enjoy browsing the gift shops that line Old Historic Auburn.

The Front Porch is a favorite stop, with seasonal gifts for any occasion.

We have started a tradition of getting a Fall scented candle every year and they are great quality. This year we grabbed a pecan scent.

While this is our favorite shop, there are countless windows to browse and buy as you explore the area with your furry friend.

Stop #3: Mountain Quarries Railroad Bridge Hike

Just down the road from Historic Auburn is a beautiful easy, hike. The Mountain Quarries Railroad Bridge has wide paths for spectacular pictures of the American River.

The trail makes its way to a waterfall at the end. October is the perfect time to enjoy this hike because it is not shady.

Your dog should remain leashed at all times since both wildlife and other pets enjoying this dog-friendly hiking spot.

Be sure to pack water and doggy bags so you can enjoy the walk and help keep the land clean and welcoming.

Stop #4: Old Town Grill

Once you have worked up an appetite, be sure to eat at Old Town Grill. Serving breakfast and lunch, there is a large shaded patio that is dog-friendly.

The portions are huge and for a sweet Halloween treat, be sure to order the hot chocolate!

This is a perfect spot to lounge if you are not in a hurry. The servers were hard-working and very friendly, but the food took a while to cook.

Since this restaurant is tucked away, there was immediate seating when we visited. The food and drinks were delicious once they arrived.

Play All Day!

Dog-friendly Auburn CA is a terrific town to visit around Halloween. With historic charm and maybe even a few ghosts, you will find more treats than tricks when you visit.

There is ample room for activities with pets on patios, hiking trails, and sidewalks. Bring plenty of water and enjoy your visit!
